Which Cosmetic Injectable Is Best for You

When choosing the right cosmetic injectable, it is crucial to determine what results you want to obtain. You may be trying to get rid of frown lines or crow’s feet, or you may want to reduce bloating under your chin. There are many reasons people opt for cosmetic injectables.

Many people turn away from treatment because they do not know what solution is best for them. If you want to explore more options, you do not need to hesitate any longer. See Dr. Mahsa Sohrab at our center for cosmetic injectables and fillers to find out which cosmetic injectable is best for you.

Examples of Injectables

There are many different brands of injectables that work in different ways. Each type of filler is designed to add volume to sunken areas of the face, get rid of scars, and lift sagging skin to remove wrinkles. We offer plenty of non-surgical injectable options to patients from all walks of life. Read on for some common non-surgical cosmetic injectable treatment options:

Botulinum Toxin

Most people think of botulinum toxin when considering injectables. It is arguably the most well-known option, and likely the first you consider when deciding if this is the right kind of treatment for you. Botulinum toxin has a longer history than other similar treatments and, therefore, a more expansive pool of results.

Botulinum toxin is best for mild to moderate signs of aging, treating wrinkles such as crow’s feet, frown lines, or laugh lines. It works by relaxing the muscles in your face, which smooths out wrinkles. It is a temporary treatment, but the results last for several months — typically three to four months. You can expect to see the results of your injectable treatment within four days to a week, and your final results should be achieved within two weeks.

Neuro-Muscular Blocker AbobotulinumtoxinA

This injectable delivers quick results. Typically, patients will start to see the effects in two to five days. The ingredient is derived from botulinum toxin. It may sound intimidating, but it is actually completely safe! It is a relatively new treatment and is one of the most common alternative injectables to botulinum toxin.

This Neuro-Muscular Blocker is best for mild to moderate wrinkles. The results arrive more quickly but last about the same amount of time: three to four months. After this point, you would likely want to return for another round of injections.

Deoxycholic Acid Injection

Deoxycholic acid injections target the area under your chin to reduce fullness. This treatment may be the right choice for you if you are self-conscious about a double chin. Deoxycholic acid injections permanently destroy the cells that cause fat to be retained. This means that once you are satisfied with your results, no further treatments are needed!

Your provider will inject multiple small amounts of deoxycholic acid under your chin over the course of an hour. The desired results are typically achieved within six sessions. Your treatments will be scheduled a month apart to minimize any side effects. Thankfully, side effects are not likely to be bothersome or long-lasting, but prepare for the possibility of swelling, numbness, or bruising.

Sculptra (Poly-L-Lactic Acid)

Sculptra targets wrinkles. However, the effects are more gradual. That said, you can expect your results to last longer than with botulinum toxin. Many patients report that their treatment is still working after two years!

Sculptra works by replacing collagen that is lost with aging. The effects are said to be slower than other injectables because it takes some time for the injectable to fully absorb. You can expect each treatment (typically three sessions) to last about half an hour to forty-five minutes. Side effects are very rare with Sculptra, so be sure to report anything unusual to your provider. At worst, you may have light bruising.

Fillers

Another option is fillers, also called dermal fillers. This treatment adds volume to a targeted area of your face, depending on your desired results. For example, fillers can give you fuller lips or reduce under-eye bags. There are many types of dermal fillers, so consult with your doctor to determine the best fit for you! With fillers, you will see immediate results after a short treatment, making them a very appealing option!
